Acid Reflux Gone With Two Meals A Day

by Ivy
(Auckland, New Zealand)

After reading your web site re eating two meals a day, I decided to give it a go. I have suffered from acid reflux for about 18 months. I have tried so many different ways of eating including 5 small meals a day, to no avail.

I have been a vegetarian for many years - I made the change to following a vegan diet about a year ago.

After following the two meals a day plan, I have made the decision that this is the plan for me. I no longer suffer from acid reflux, and I am never hungry.

At first I was a little concerned re my weight as I lost a kilo (2.2lbs) It has now stabilized at 60 kilos (132 lbs) this being a good weight for me.

I am 73 years of age, keep fit, and my daughter made a comment a couple of days ago as to how great my skin is looking. For me, the experience has been positive.

Michelle says: What a great testimony Ivy! Thanks for sharing it. I'm so glad that you are having a positive experience with the two meal plan and that you no longer suffer from acid reflux. How easy or difficult was it for you to make the change to two meals a day?

Changing To Two Meals A Day Was Easy!
by: Ivy - New Zealand

It was so easy changing to the two meals a day way of eating. Not only am I a Vegan, I follow a strict diet of what I call whole foods only. I am never hungry.

As an example, last weekend my daughter arrived early so was able to join me for breakfast. We enjoyed buckwheat, fresh fruit, topped with heaps of fresh fruit plus ground flaxseed, sunflower and sesame seeds. I also added a little blackstrap molasses.

She telephoned the next day to tell me that she now understands as to why I am never hungry. She did not eat again until she got home around 5 pm.

How I Was Able to Eat Quinoa
by: Ivy

Hello Michelle, you may recall yourself suggesting that I might like to add quinoa to my diet. I replied that I had found that it gave me reflux....

I thought at the time that it was because of the high fat content. Over the weekend I read where one of our local chefs adds amaranth to the quinoa (i.e. cooking it together). He actually uses red, black and white quinoa plus the amaranth.

So...I made the decision to cook red quinoa and amaranth for breakfast this morning. Before eating I added one tablespoon of black strap molasses followed by a topping of ground linseed, sunflower, and sesame seeds. It was delicious and most important of all, I did not suffer any reflux problems!

With half a cup of cooked amaranth containing 138 mg of calcium and half a cup of cooked quinoa containing 50 mg, it all added up to one very healthy breakfast.

Regards

Ivy

One more thing.... I forgot to mention that I did add fresh fruit to the quinoa/amaranth breakfast - a kiwi fruit plus a banana.
