Benefits of Exercise
There are so many benefits of exercise. Are you looking to have greater vitality? Better health? A longer life? If your answer is, "Yes!" Then you've come to the right place. Have you ever heard the expression, "Use it or lose it?" This can apply to many different areas in your life including the physical state of your body. If you were to do an experiment where you kept one of your arms bound up for a couple of weeks, you would notice after letting it free again that it is much, much weaker than the other one that was being used all along. (Please do not try this experiment out for yourself - trust me!)
If you are not active, the same thing will happen to your body. It will become much weaker and you will find it harder and harder to do physical tasks. You'll have less energy, and you will catch colds and other illnesses much more easily. If you don't keep active, here are some problems that can start to develop: - Weight gain
- Flabby muscles and body
- Weak, stiff, and sore muscles
- Pop belly
- Pain in your lower back that will not let up
- Lack of endurance
- Shallow breathing
- Difficulty coping with stress
- High blood pressure
- Increased risk of heart disease
Physical activity is one of the laws of our being. We were created to move. One of the major benefits of exercise is that it helps you to have a healthier and stronger body. Exercise benefits everyone. Whether you are a young child, a teenager, an adult or a senior, you can enjoy some form of exercise. New to exercise? Not sure where to begin? Start by walking. All of the benefits of exercise that you just read about can be yours if you walk on a regular basis. Walking is great because it exercises all the major muscles in your body.
You don't need expensive equipment or even a membership at the local gym. Put on some casual clothes and a pair of comfy walking shoes and head outside. If you’re just starting out, go slowly and walk a short distance. As you become more comfortable, build up your speed and distance. NOTE:If you are starting up an exercise program for the first time, be sure to consult with your doctor first. You should also get clearance from your doctor first if you’re taking medication or suffering from an illness. Try taking a short walk outside. The best place to walk is in an area where you are surrounded by
fresh air
and the beautiful scenes of nature. If you are walking alone, be sure to walk in an area where there are lots of other people around. If you have trouble walking for more than a few minutes, start slowly and gradually build up the time until you can walk 20 – 30 minutes. If you are not able to walk at all, you can try some gentle stretching or some
deep breathing exercises.
As your health begins to improve, you can slowly add more exercises. Remember to go gradually and be careful. Do not to over exert yourself.
