Best Time To Exercise On The 2 Meal Plan?

by Jaime
(Vancouver, Canada)

I like to do aerobic workout one day and some weight training the next. What would be the best time to do them while on the two meal plan? I assume between the first and second meal, but would like to know what you think. Thanks!

Michelle says: Great question Jamie. Anytime of the day (morning, afternoon, or early evening) is great for working out.

In my opinion, there really is no set "best time" to exercise. It's mostly a matter of personal preference and where you can best fit it into your schedule.

The main thing to keep in mind when planning a time is this: It's best not to engage in exercise that's too strenuous or vigorous for at least an hour or two after you've eaten.

The reason for this is that vigorous exercise pulls the blood away from your digestive organs and brings it to your muscles. Less blood in your digestive organs makes digestion a lot more difficult. We all need to have good digestion for our overall health and well being.

Walking after you eat is okay because it doesn't have the same affect on your digestive organs as does the vigorous exercise. In fact, it helps to improve your digestion!

Another thing to keep in mind is that exercising can make you feel more alert and energized. So it's best not to exercise too close to bedtime - especially if you have difficulty falling asleep.

Hope that helps!

Michelle
