Cut Out Lunch Rather Than Supper?

Hi! So I have began the 2-meal plan. However, I have found it easier to cut out lunch rather than supper. What are your thoughts?

I am a college student, and I do workout 4 times a week. I'm only a couple weeks in, and my lunch hasn't been cut out completely. I've just been having a couple of pieces of fruit, but I'm hoping to eventually drop it, so I'm just eating breakfast and dinner. Is there a reason why most decide to cut out dinner/supper? Thanks!

Michelle says: Hi Candace,

Great question! The great thing about the two meal plan is that it's very flexible. There isn't a set time for when it's best to have your first and second meal.

It's perfectly okay to eat during the times that work best for your body and schedule. You don't have to schedule your meals around the traditional breakfast, lunch, and dinner times either.

That being said, here are three main things to keep in mind as you decide on the best times for you:

1. Try to schedule a minimum 5 hours between your first and second meal. That allows your food to digest fully before you eat again.

2. Try to have your second meal at least 4 - 5 hours before you go to bed. That way your stomach will not be burdened digesting food all night.

3. Try to have regular times for your meals. Our bodies do best on a regular schedule.

Most people on the two meal plan decide to cut out dinner/supper because it's harder to go without food for that long after only one meal. If you eat your second meal earlier in the day, you'll be taking in even more nutrients which will sustain you for the remainder of the day.

But in the end, it's a matter of personal preference.

Hope that helps!

Michelle
