How Many Hours Of Sleep Do You Need?

by Anonymous

How many hours should you sleep a night?

Michelle says: The amount of sleep you need each night really depends on how old you are...

* Newborn babies need between 16 - 20 hours of sleep.
* Young babies need between 10 - 12 hours.
* Teens should get about 9 hours each night.
* Adults require about 7 - 8 hours of sleep.

Infants, children, and teens need more sleep than adults because their bodies and brains are still growing and developing. Nighttime is when that growth takes place.

Getting enough sleep is important for adults too because it's the time when your brain grows intellectually. Scrimping on sleep makes is so much harder for you to grow as a person. It also makes you less efficient and can even harm your health.

Interestingly enough, the hours before midnight are more valuable than the ones afterward. So, it's important to go to be early enough - between 8 PM and 10 PM. Yes, even for adults! ;-)
