Immunizations

Hello there :)

I am one who does not like or want immunizations. The last time I had them was in 2004. Do you happen to know what I can do as far as trying to apply to certain college courses that require that you are immunized? I don't know if there is any way of getting around this!

Michelle says: I don`t know that much about getting exemptions from vaccines, but my guess is that it varies from place to place.

If you talk to someone in the health department of the colleges you`re thinking of applying to, you should be able to find out if there are any exceptions that apply to you.

Some people may be exempt from vaccines for religious reasons, health issues, or other reasons. But it all depends on your state or province. You should be able to get the right information for your particular situation on the government website for your local area.

Hope that helps!

Michelle

Childhood Immunizations
by: Anonymous

HELP! My daughter is due to start kindergarten this fall and has not had all of the required immunizations. After a multitude of immunizations before age 2, she developed sensory processing disorder and lost all speech. It has taken 3 years of continuous therapy to get her to start talking again. We need help. She cannot tolerate regular vaccines and their additives. Where can we go to get natural vaccines that will comply with state regulations and not cause regression? We live in Illinois/Chicagoland area.

Vaccine Exemption Information
by: Michelle

Hi, it's Michelle here from natural-health-restored.com. My heart goes out to you. I can relate since my nephew that I'm helping to raise also lost his speech after being vaccinated. He was later diagnosed with autism and we're working towards getting him recovered.

Some children are just more sensitive than others to vaccinations. Fortunately, in the state of Illinois, you may be able to get your daughter exempted from having further vaccines for medical or religious reasons.

For the medical exemption, you would probably have to get your daughter's doctor/pediatrician to sign an exemption form (if such a form exists in your state) or write a letter stating that vaccinations are medically contraindicated where she's concerned. The principal at the school should be able to tell you what kind of documentation they will accept.

You'll get a lot more information about vaccine exemptions on the National Vaccine Information Center website. Here's a link: http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requirements.aspx Click on your state, and it will take you to another page with more resources where you can look into this issue further.

As far as I know, there are no "natural vaccines." All vaccines contain varying amounts of questionable ingredients including aluminum, formaldehyde, mercury, and the list goes on. You can get a partial ingredients list along with some side effects on the Generation Rescue website: http://www.generationrescue.org/resources/vaccination/vaccine-ingredients-and-side-effects/

Whether you vaccinate your daughter again or not, is an individual choice. I think it definitely pays to be fully informed before you make that decision, especially given your daughter's previous reaction. Please don't let your doctor or school pressure you to make that choice.

Here's another resource with 8 questions you should ask before deciding to vaccinate: http://www.nvic.org/Ask-Eight-Questions.aspx

Hope that helps!

Michelle
