The Importance of Breakfast

We've all heard about the importance of breakfast....

Yet how many people find themselves skipping out on this necessary meal each day? Too many!

Skipping out on breakfast is never a good idea.

Here are a few reasons why breakfast is so important:

  • It breaks your fast from the night before. Breakfast is where you refuel and get energy for the day ahead. Not having breakfast cheats you of this opportunity and you end up running on empty!
  • It provides your brain with the nutrients you need for concentration at work or at school. Studies show that children do much better in school when they eat breakfast on a daily basis.
  • It jump starts your metabolism and keeps it revving on high all day. This is especially important if you’re trying to shed some pounds.

Breakfast and Weight Loss

Are you trying to lose weight? Here's something to pay attention to: Eating a healthy breakfast gives your metabolism a boost!

Research shows that people who eat breakfast daily have a much easier time losing and maintaining their ideal weight than people who skip this most important meal.

An especially good plan to follow if you're trying to lose weight and stay in great shape is this: Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen, and dinner like a pauper.

An even better plan is to eat only two meals a day.

What if I'm Not Hungry in the Morning?

If you're not hungry in the morning, it has everything to do with what you eat the day (and night) before.

Do you have heavy meals for dinner?

Do you eat anything close to bedtime?

Do you snack between meals or eat more than three meals in one day?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then there's an excellent chance that your stomach spent the entire night (or at least a good portion of it) digesting what you ate. After digesting all night, the last thing it wants first thing in the morning is yet another meal to digest! Your stomach needs rest too!

You can easily solve this problem by skipping out on dinner for a few days. Giving your stomach a chance to rest for a meal or two will do wonders to boost your appetite in the morning.

If you're completely against skipping the third meal, try having a light third meal of some fruit and crackers.
