Isn't Breakfast The Most Important Meal Of The Day?

I'm trying to do the 2 meal a day thing, but I just read that one meal a day helps you lose fat. If I did this I would eat dinner which I eat at 3:00 pm. I have no problems doing this, but isn't breakfast the most important meal of the day? Will my metabolism slow down after a few days of doing this? And won't I lose muscle?

Also, I've been eating 2 meals a day (breakfast (6am) and dinner (3pm)) but after dinner I eat and eat and eat until like 6:00 pm and I'm not even hungry. How can I stop at dinner?

Thanks

Michelle says: You're quite right about the importance of breakfast. Among other things, eating breakfast helps to boost your metabolism, so it's definitely not the meal to skip out on if you're trying to lose weight.

Limiting yourself to just one meal a day is not a great idea. Chances are you won't be able to take in enough food during one meal (without overeating) to meet all of your body's nutritional requirements. If you're not getting enough nutrients in, your metabolism may indeed slow down to compensate. One meal a day is not a healthy way to go long term. The two meal plan is much more balanced approach.

One way to control what you eat during meal times is to have all your food prepared and set out on your plate before you start eating it. Don't reach for seconds of anything until you've had a chance to finish what you've already got on your plate. Only take more if you're still feeling quite hungry.

And during your meal, try to relax and enjoy every single bite. Make your mealtimes as stress free and as relaxing as possible so that the overall experience is more satisfying.

If these suggestions don't help, and you find that you're still eating too much, then there may be a possibility that you may not be getting all the nutrients you need from your food. Of course it's hard for me to pinpoint what may be going on for you because I don't know what your diet and lifestyle is like.

But the point is that sometimes people end up feeling constantly hungry when they've got some sort of nutritional deficiency going on. So, to make sure that you're eating a well balanced diet that meets your individual needs, you could meet with a nutritionist and have them evaluate your diet. Based on the evaluation, the nutritionist will make suggestions to get you back on track.

Another thing to be aware of is that sometimes people eat for comfort. Food can be an indirect way of dealing with feelings of loneliness, depression, anxiety, or stress. If that applies to you, then the only way to stop overeating is to deal with any underlying feelings that are causing you to eat for comfort in the first place!

Hope that helps!

Michelle

p.s. You really can't believe everything you read or hear especially when it comes to health information. There are a lot of so called experts encouraging people to try things that are going to be unhealthy and even dangerous the long run. That's one of the reasons why this site is up (to spread the truth about natural health so that everyone can see how simple it really is to get and stay healthy).
