What is a natural remedy for knee/joint pain?
Michelle says: Hi Edna,
Do you know what is causing your knee or joint pain? Is it because of an injury, arthritis, or some other cause?
Here are a few natural remedies that may help you.
First of all, it's very important that you stay hydrated. Drinking enough water every single day will keep your joints lubricated so there is less friction. Less friction means less pain.
If water seems like too simple a remedy to you, be sure to read these two eye opening books by Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj:
Your Body's Many Cries for Water
and
How to Deal With Back Pain and Rheumatoid Joint Pain
You'll never think of water the same way again!
Second, it's important for you to avoid all refined sugars. Refined sugar does not provide your body with any nutrients. Instead,it robs your body of calcium and other nutrients. You cannot have healthy joints if they are constantly losing minerals. Use natural sweeteners such as organic raw honey instead.
For immediate relief, you could try rubbing a cayenne salve on your painful joints. It naturally helps to relieve pain.
If you can, try to get some form of gentle exercise every day. Unless your pain is because of a recent injury, it is important to keep your joints mobile. Try walking outside for a few minutes each day. Then as you are able increase the time. That should help with the stiffness you are experiencing.
Eat mineral rich foods such as kelp, dulse, kale, pumpkin seeds, and blackstrap molasses to provide nutrition for your joints.
Eat more foods that are high in calcium. Dark leafy green vegetables, figs, chickpeas, almonds, and sesame seeds are all high in calcium.
If you find it difficult to get enough servings of dark leafy green vegetables, start taking AIM BarleyLife every day. It's full of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that will help you to have healthy knees and joints.
Hope that helps!
