No More Constipation With Two Meal Plan

by Anonymous

I used to be very very constipated. It was normal for me not to poop for 7 days straight, sometimes 10 days. I did not think it was abnormal because there are many people, especially girls who are like me, right?

But I read a book 10 years ago about the 2 meal plan and mini fasts and the book totally made sense to me.

So I started the 2 meal plan and soon I saw some changes. I did not become constipated anymore.

It's amazing that I have to go to bathroom every day. Now I worry when I do not poop just one day. That is a big difference!

Also, the 2 meal plan is very friendly to my stomach. I think my stomach is weaker than most of the people. Me and my boyfriend eat the same thing, and I tend to get diarrhea, pain, ingestion, and stuff so often. But eating 2 meals a day makes my stomach work less for digesting. I have fewer problems when eating 2 meals a day than eating 3 meals a day.

For those who have an inherently weak stomach like I do, I definitely recommend the 2 meal plan.

I noticed that since I am getting only 2 meals a day, the body tries to get as much nutrition as possible.... I gain weight easily. So definitely you do not want to overeat. That's one thing that is bad about the 2 meal plan. Otherwise, it is great! and seriously no more constipation

Michelle says: Glad to hear that the two meal plan has helped you so much. Constipation and digestive problems are no fun. Unfortunately they are pretty common these days.

It's so true that on the two meal plan you don't need to eat as much! Once your stomach has had a chance to rest and recover from digestive problems, it becomes so much more efficient at processing and digesting your food. Your food goes farther and you can get away with eating a lot less.

If you enjoy eating, eating less is probably not so much fun. But you can still enjoy your food (yes, even with smaller portions) if you take your time and s-l-o-w-l-y chew your food. Good company helps too. Then it can be more about interesting conversation and being being together rather than the food alone. Read about some more healthy eating habits on this page.

Hope that helps!

Michelle

p.s. What book was it that you read 10 years ago that talked about 2 meals a day and fasting?

Re: Two Meals a day
by: Ivy - New Zealand

I read the comments from "Anonymous" and was interested re gaining weight on the Two Meals a Day Plan.

As you are aware, I have been following this plan, however, I have been struggling to keep the weight on so made the decision to go back to eating three meals a day. I am now holding my weight at a steady 60 kilos (132 lbs).

However, Michelle, I am struggling with my digestion. I feel I should go back to the Two Meals a day plan but don't want to lose weight. I would appreciate your help and advice.

To keep fit, I do walk about an hour a day plus a further three quarters of an hour of both stretches and strength exercises a day. I am 74 years of age.

Regards

Michelle's Answer...

Hi Ivy!

Hope you are keeping well. Has anything changed since you started the two meal plan? Are you doing more exercise now than before? Even slight changes in how much you eat or exercise can make a difference in your weight.

It does sound like 2 meals a day would be a better way to go since 3 meals is causing digestive problems for you. Keeping your digestive system in perfect working order is a top priority.

To maintain your weight on two meals, you may need to add more higher calorie, nutrient dense foods into your diet. Foods such as nuts, seeds, and avocados come to mind.

To make nuts and seeds easier to digest, I suggest eating them them raw rather than roasted or cooked. They'll also be easier to digest if you grind them up and incorporate them into your favorite recipes (rather than eating them whole). You can make some delicious raw dishes and desserts using nuts. One of my favorite recipes books with some super delicious recipe ideas is Ani's Raw Food Kitchen by Ani Phyo.

Everyone's body is different, so it's a matter of figuring out what works best for you.

Hope that helps! And please let me know how it goes.

Michelle

p.s. Your daily exercise routine sounds great!

Re: No More Constipation

Hi Michelle,

Sorry I did not get back to you soon!

The book was in Japanese. It is called "jiriki seitai hou" by Yu Yagami, in case you are interested.

I do not think he publishes his books in English.

The book was mainly about how to stretch but it has the section of fasting. The author studied martial arts, Yoga, fasting, detoxing and so on.

Many other people recommend two meals a day in Japan. Dr. Koda (seems to me, he is the Japanese version of Dr. Gerson) is the main stream doctor in two meals a day field in Japan.

Hi Ivy,

Dr. Koda says that two meal plan or fasting make your body lose OR gain weight to keep your ideal weight.

Losing part made sense, but gaining part did not at first. But thin people (usually because they are sick and cannot gain weight) say that they 'gain' weight when following two meal plan with only brown rice, raw veggies and fruit, carrot juice, and some tofu and seaweed. I am still in progress to know this is true.

I did 4-day fasting twice and did strict Dr. Koda's two meal plan for two weeks this year. I lost weight first though, my body weight seems to be stable when I reached 45kg(100lb). I am 158cm(5'2). If you are interested in checking Dr. Koda's books, his name is 'mitsuo koda'

Thanks For Your Answer
by: Michelle

Thanks for getting back to me and letting me know the name of that book. Unfortunately though, I don't read or understand Japanese...

I had no idea that anyone was promoting the two meal plan in Japan. That's great! Since it seems to be helping so many people, the more people who know about it, the better.

I agree with you that eating two meals a day tends to balance out your weight. It either brings you up, or down to your ideal weight. Then it tends to keep you there unless you make drastic changes in what and how much you are eating. Thanks again!

Two Meals A Day Plan
by: Ivy - New Zealand

I was browsing your site and guess what I found? A blog that I had sent you re the two meal a day plan and that I was losing weight. So......I went back to three meals a day. Please accept my apologies Michelle, for not advising you at the time that I went back to the two meal a day plan and I am doing fine - my weight remains stable at 60 kilo (132lbs). My digestion, too, is so much better. Weather permitting, I walk on a regular basis. I also do half an hour a day of exercises e.g. squat, lunges, stretches plus a few weight bearing exercise (using my body as weights). I thank you for your patience.

Regards Ivy

Michelle says: No worries Ivy! I understand that things change from time to time for people. That's okay. Thanks though for posting an update. Glad to hear that you are doing well and keeping active. You are truly an inspiration!
